5 Natural Ways to Boost Thyroid Health

January is National Thyroid Health Awareness Month, where we discuss the prevention and treatment of thyroid-related disorders and diseases (hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, Hashimoto’s, Grave’s disease.)

As you can imagine, Thyroid Health Awareness is extremely critical, with over 20 million Americans suffering from a thyroid disorder.Below we will look at natural methods of boosting thyroid health, which you can include in your own daily activities.

1. Dietary Changes

Proper nutrition is encouraged as a method to boost thyroid health, including the consumption of whole wheat, organic, natural, and antioxidant-rich foods.

Be sure to consume Omega 3s (fish), Vitamin C (fruits and veggies), iodine-rich foods (sea vegetables), zinc (beef and turkey), copper (crabmeat and lobsters), and iron (organ meats).

On the other hand, you should avoid highly processed foods, gluten, cruciferous vegetables (cabbage and cauliflower) and soy, as they can disrupt thyroid function.
