5. Nourish and Hydrate Your Skin

Most lotions just coat your skin with a petrolatum product to trap moisture in and make it feel soft. They don’t actually hydrate the skin. Quite a few of them also include alcohol.

Like your body, your skin needs certain nutrients to function heal properly, including: vitamins, minerals, amino acids, fatty acids and enzymes.

A lot of products out there focus on one vitamin or ingredient. Vitamin C serums, Shea Butter Moisturizers, etc. They have their place, but the skin needs a whole lot more. Vitamins A, B, C, D and E all play their role in properly balanced skin.

A few ingredients for powerful DIY home treatments include manuka honey, oats, coconut oil, aloe vera, avocado and egg whites.
